Our Creative Corner Saturday Challenge ~ Make Amy Laugh!!!

Good Morning!!!
What a fun challenge we have in store for you today over at the OCC!!!  Amy is our hostess this month and since she is having trouble dealing with the fact that she will be turning 40 this month, her challenge for us this week is to make a birthday card that will make her laugh!!!  I also want to take a moment to welcome the AMAZINGLY talented Julee Tilman from Verve to our OCC team!  I LOVE Julee's work AND stamps!  She will be a wonderful addition to our team!!!  Welcome Julee!!

Here is my card ~

The base of my card is Pixie Pink and is 5 1/4" square.  The next mat is Only Orange and then Whisper White.  The bright pink and orange are not my "usual" colors but decided I NEEDED to go outside my comfort zone!!!  I did add my usual brown, black and white though!!! I felt much better having them close by and felt I could go on and finish my card!!!  LOL!!! 

The top piece is actually Basic Black textured cardstock but I covered partially with some brown decorative paper that I have had for years (I have no idea who makes it).  I cut the brown paper with my Creative Memories Wavy Cutter and used my white gel pen to make the white dashes in the middle of the "road".  The grass is a die by Quickutz which I cut out of Celery cardstock and then sponged with Old Olive ink.  The flowers are some 3 different shades of pink Prima flowers BUT I painted them with Bubble Gum Shimmerz!  Oh my gosh, they are SO pretty!  I will show you a close up in a minute.  My photos aren't great because tropical storm/hurricane Hanna is coming through so I couldn't get a picture outside that would really show the shimmer!!!  I added silver brads to the centers of the flowers.  I stamped the sentiment on Whisper White cardstock and matted on Basic Black cardstock and then mounted it on the "posts" using dimensionals.  I punched the "posts" using my Word Window punch from some old SU! "wood" paper.

The stamp set I used is called ~ You know you're old when.... and is from Gina K.  The sentiment and image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  The sentiment cracks me up!  I stamped the image again on Whisper White cardstock and on the orange & pink decorative paper (don't know who this is by either!).  I cut the car out from the decorative paper and cut out the bumper and headlights from the second image that was stamped on the white cardstock.  I also stamped the image using Black Stazon ink on a transparency and cut out around the windshield so there is "glass" in the windshield.  I colored the image, headlights and tires using Prismacolor pencils.  I added Coal Shimmerz to Granny's hair and her glasses.  I used my silver Painty pen to color the bumper, rims and antenna base.  This was adhered on the card using dimensionals.

I also added the Bubble Gum Shimmerz around the entire perimeter of the Pixie Pink front of the card.   I hope you can see how AWESOME this product is!!!  I goes on so beautifully ~ no lines ~ totally even!

Last Gina K. Challenge Card...

Here is my last challenge card! 

This card is based on Julie's Sketch Challenge #4.  The base of my card is Shimmery White and the decorative paper is Crate Paper's ~ Carnival (Lindsey is out of this right now).  I used my SU! scallop scissors to cut the top and added pink Heidi Swapp jewels with my Quickie glue pen.  The ribbon was also from Lindsey and is pink satin with grosgrain edges ~ beautiful!!!  The orange flower is from the Target $1 spot and I cut the center from one of the decorative paper flowers, glued it on the orange flower button and added a pink Heidi Swapp jewel to the center.  I used a glue dot to adhere it on top of the striped decorative paper that I punched a photo corner from.  The giraffe from Just so Hippy was actually cut out and mounted with dimensionals on top of Shimmery White cardstock.  I colored her with my Prisma Color Pencils, blending stumps and Mineral Spirits.  I added Cotton Candy Stickles to all of the hearts on her!  I colored the ground with the same pencils.

Another Gina K Designs Challenge Card....

Oh my gosh, I received an email yesterday from Robbie telling me about Charmaine's "Hippy" tilt card tutorial and boy am I glad!  It is so cute and REALLY easy so don't be afraid to try it!  If you don't have the cutest hippo from Just So Hippy I am sure that there is another animal in your stash that you can "make due" with!!!  Anyway, here is my card ~

The layout is based on Cammie's (Carolyn King) sketch challenge #1.  The base of my card is Whisper White with a mat of Celery cardstock.  I then used my most favorite Imaginisce ~ For Peeps Sake paper.  The ribbon is from SU!'s Ribbon Originals.  I stamped the sentiment on vellum paper and adhered it under the ribbon and small places below.  The circles were cut using my Nestabilities.  I followed Charmaine's instructions HERE on doing the focal image.  I colored "Hippy" using my Soft Sky ink pad and an Aquapainter.  I painted her toenails using my Copic Spica Clear glitter pen, added Pretty in Pink chalk to her cheeks, a little clear glitter accents on her tail and eyelashes and then cut a daisy from the decorative paper and glued it to her behind!  I mounted the entire circle image to the front of my card using pop dots because they are thicker.  I have to hurry and get this loaded since the deadline to have the cards in is fast approaching so if I forgot anything or you have questions, please don't hesitate to ask!  I will be back shortly with my final card for the challenges!

Look OUT!!! Here Comes GROOVY GRANNY!!!

This little granny just cracks me up!  I just love this set by Gina K.  It is so me!!!  Gina K had some new stamps released last night and some challenges that went along with the party so here is my first one based on sketch challenge #3 as well as last weeks Ways To Use It challenge ~ Polka Dots!  I have to bulk a few challenges together because I really want to do them all but that is just impossible!  Here is my card ~

I wanted Granny to have a cool lookin' car so I dug through my scraps and found this old We R Memory Keepers embossed flower paper.  I used my Nestabilities to die cut the top scalloped circles.  I used Basic Black cardstock for the bottom scallop.  The base of my card is Basic Black with a mat of another old piece of patterned paper by Lasting Impressions.  The stamp set is by Gina K and is called You know you're old when....  I got mine from Michelle ~ Stampers Dream but I do notice that she does not have it in stock right now.  See, it is very popular!!! LOL!!!  The white ribbon is May Arts and I got that from  Lindsey and the green and pink polka dot ribbon was from Michael's.  BTW, don't forget that Lindsey is having a sale which ends today!  She has tons of stuff marked down 25-35% off!  Now, on with my card!

I LOVE the focal image.  I had so much fun doing this part.  I stamped Granny on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  I stamped her again on the floral paper and again on the polka dot paper using Basic Black ink and then I used Black Stazon to stamp on an old embellishment package that was laying on my desk (this was for the windshield) and one more time on some old Architexture (EK Success) thin silver sheet metal.   

The first thing I cut out was the car from the floral paper.  The next thing I cut out were just the seats from the polka dot paper.  I then cut the "windshield" out from the embellishment bag (think window sheet here).  I then cut out the bumper, wheels and antennae base.  Before I glued all these parts down, I colored Granny and inside the card (a light shade of blue) using my Prisma Color Pencils and Mineral Spirits.  I then used my Quickie Glue Pen to glue all the parts on.  I used the same pencils and Mineral Spirits to color the tires, road, grass and sky.  I added a few weeds using my Green Galore marker.   Here is a close up of Granny!

I love how the windshield turned out!  Super easy and free!  Don't throw those packages away.  You won't need window sheets!!!  I colored Granny's hair using a bluish purple as well as silver.  Remember that song by Ray Stevens ~ Little Blue Haired Lady?  That song is so funny and OLD, just like GRANNY!!!
