Jacksonbelle's Design Team ~ Sketch Challenge Tuesday......

Happy Tuesday!
Today is Jacksonbelle Tuesday and this week we have a sketch for you to try!  If you do want to play along, upload your creation to SCS using JBE010 in the keywords section so we can all see what you have created!!!  Here is my card ~
IMG_3781_edited-1
Well, if you haven't had enough coffee to wake you up this morning, this card should do the trick!!!  These colors are not my normal colors but I had seen so many darling creations using this Prima Dude paper and had to try it!  I really like the papers!  They are really fun to work with!  The base of my card is Whisper White and then a Basic Black mat and then a piece of decorative paper from the Dude Collection.  The next panel (from bottom up) is first Soft Sky cardstock and then Whisper White which I ran through my Cuttlebug using my Swirls folder.  The small strip down the side is also from the Dude Collection, matted with Basic Black cardstock and stamped using the butterflies from the Inkadinkado Patterned Bugs set.  I stamped the butterflies directly on to the decorative paper using Basic Black ink and then cut the strip leaving some of the butterflies to hang out over the edge.

For the focal image piece, I stamped the caterpillar using Old Olive ink and the dragonfly using Basic Black ink.  Both of these images are also included in the Patterned Bugs set.  I also stamped the butterflies again but just the edges so I could line them up with the butterfly strip.  I stamped the butterfly below the caterpillar and the dragonfly using Basic Black ink on scrap Whisper White cardstock.  I cut the entire butterfly out and mounted it on top of the first butterfly and cut just the dragonfly's wings and mounted them on top of the first dragonfly.  I added Stardust Stickles to accent both of these.  I also added the Stardust Stickles to the caterpillar as well as a googlie eye.  The cupcake is from Inka's Cupcake set which Lindsey is currently sold out of but I stamped it one time on Whisper White cardstock and again on another of the decorative Dude papers using Basic Black ink.  I cut out the Whisper White cupcake and then cut out just the cupcake holder from the decorative paper and then adhered it on top of the Whisper White cupcake.  I colored using my Prismacolor pencils and added Crystal Effects to the cherry and I used Elmer's Glue to add white Martha Stewart glitter to the cupcake frosting.  This was mounted on top of the caterpillar using a dimensional.  The last step was to add the 3 black American Crafts brads.

IMG_3748_edited-1

The base of my card is Chocolate Chip cardstock with a mat of decorative paper from Prima's Urban Cosmos Collection.  The next mat is first (bottom up) Certainly Celery cardstock and the next polka dot mat is from Bo Bunny and is called Chocolate Dot.  The next mat is first Chocolate Chip and then So Saffron cardstock.  I used my ticket corner punch on all 4 corners, ran gold cord around (I just used Scotch tape to adhere the pieces of the cord to the back) and then added some BEAUTIFUL self adhesive pearls from Kaiser Craft.  To adhere the ribbon, I punched a hole on the right side of the oval and then pulled the ribbon through and then ended back on the right side and then tied a knot.  The ribbon is from May Arts.   The focal image is from Inkadinkado and is called Duet (Lindsey will be getting more of these in next week).  I stamped the image using Chocolate Chip ink on Cryogen White Shimmery cardstock and then cut it out using my oval Nesties!!!  I made the frame by layering the scalloped die and smaller oval die (fit right inside the scalloped die), taped (Scotch) them on top of the Urban Cosmos decorative paper and then ran it through my Cuttlebug.  It cut and embossed the scalloped frame!!!  I then colored the birds using my Prismacolor Pencils, highlighted with my Copic Spica gold glitter pen, added my Prima Flowers and Kaiser Craft pearls to the centers of the flowers.  I used dimensionals to mount the oval on top of the Saffron piece.

Stamps ~  Inkadinkado ~ Duet  Paper ~  Cryogen White shimmery cardstock, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip & Certainly Celery cardstock and Prima ~ Urban Cosmos DP  Ink ~ Chocolate Chip  Other ~ Prima flowers, Kaiser Craft pearls, May Arts ribbon, dimensionals, ticket corner punch, gold cord, Prismacolor Pencils, Oval Nestabilities, Copic Spica Gold Glitter pen, Scotch tape,

Jacksonbelle DT Color Challenge......

Good Morning!
So far so good, haven't seen any wild animals or reptiles today!!!  LOL!!!  It is going to be a great day!  Today is Jacksonbelle Tuesday and our challenge today was to use Bashful Blue, Basic Black and Real Red!  Our own Beth Thomas chose that awesome combination ~ thanks Beth!!!  Here is my card and YES, I did follow the instructions ~ there really is red on there!!! LOL!!!

IMG_3681_edited-1

The layout of my card is based on this weeks CPS sketch.  The base of my card is Bashful Blue with first a mat of Basic Black and then Whisper White which I ran through my Cuttlebug using my Swiss Dots embossing folder.  The black lace is from a "LITTLE" something I used to wear back in the day.......NOT REALLY!!!! LMBO!!!!!  It is actually from Rusty Pickle and was never "worn" before I used opened the package, I think?!?!?! LOL!!!  I punched a hole on the side of the image using my 1/8" punch and then tied a knot with the lace.  I added the top strips of lace by just taping (Scotch) them under the image and on the back of the black mat.  The Bashful Blue mat was cut from my rectangle Nestabilities.  The Bird image is from Inka and can be found HERE!  I stamped the image using Basic Black on Whisper White cardstock.  I colored using my Prismacolor pencils AS USUAL!!!!  You can't see it in the picture but I added some glitter on the flowers and birds using my Clear Copic Spica glitter pen.  I then matted the image using Basic Black cardstock.  The final step was to add the Silver, We R Memory Keepers scrolled photo corner.  I adhered this using glue dots.

If you would like to play along, when you upload to SCS, add JBE009 to the keywords section so we can all see what you have made!  For more inspiration, check out the girls blogs here ~

Stamps ~  Inkadinkado ~ Birds Paper ~  Bashful Blue, Whisper White and Basic Black cardstock  Ink ~  Basic Black  Other ~ Cuttlebug, Swiss Dots embossing folder, Rusty Pickle black lace, Rectangle Nestabilities, We R Memory Keepers Silver Hardware, Prismacolor Pencils, Copic Spica clear glitter pen, glue dots

Now, for some enabling!!!  Lindsey has added MORE stuff to her Clearance section!  Please help her get rid of this stuff to make room for LOTS MORE new stuff!!! LOL!!!  Also, she has just posted a bunch of NEW paper and stamps from October Afternoon!  They are selling out quickly so be sure to check it out before it is all gone!  Last, but certainly not least...remember THIS card I made using 7 Gypsies Sushi paper???  Well, it is FINALLY back in stock!!!  You can find it HERE!  And to assist you in adding more to your cart, Lindsey should be receiving the BRAND NEW Inkadinkado Holiday stamps today!!!!  Be sure to keep checking HERE for the new Inka additions!  For a sneak peek, HERE is a card I made Saturday using the NEW deer!  Happy Shopping!!!!

Happy Birthday Dad!!!

I think I am going to have to move! LOL!!!   I was born and raised in Monterey California with street lights, sidewalks, neighbors and the NASTIEST bug I can remember is what we referred to as a Potato Bug.  They were UGLY and lived in the dirt so the best thing to do was to not dig in the dirt ~ problem solved!  I now live in Virginia and have lived here now for 15 years!!!  I have experienced a Coyote grabbing one of my chickens right in front of me, bobcats, foxes, Black SNAKES (lots of these), huge snapping turtles, being attacked by barn swallows IN MY OWN BARN!, river otters, being attacked by my rooster (may he rest in peace), a hawk killing one of my chickens and then ME learning to load and unload the shotgun so I can protect my kids and animals!!!  OMG, what has become of me!! LOL!!!  What brings me to mention my moving (just kidding of course) announcement all started on Saturday when I ran in to town.  It all started innocent enough and when I was about 4 miles from my house (I live in a very rural area) I look and right on the side of the road is a very large black bear!  No, it was not dead, it was standing there waiting to cross the road!!!  As I was sitting in the middle of the road trying figure out why I lived here, the bear very leisurely walks across the road to the driveway of the only house in the area.  It actually was exciting by scary too!!!  I am sure there will come a time that we have one on our property.....  Then, this morning there was a SNAKE in our pool!!!  The kids and I were busy retrieving the frogs from the pool and then I look and there was a snake!!!!  Mary started crying and telling me that she is NEVER going in the pool again, Joey, my hero, was telling me to get it out, get it out!!!!  LOL!!!  As I was getting ready to fish it out, I thought we better check to make sure it wasn't a Copperhead because if it was, I would need to kill it!!!  Oh fun.....  It wasn't a Copperhead so it was safely released back in to the wild!!!   And to think I used to dress pretty nicely, had my nails done and actually wore jewelry!!!!  Not anymore!  I wear jeans, shorts and t-shirts, don't wear jewelry ~ why? do the animals care?? and nails, what nails?!?!?  LOL!!!    OK, sorry, went off track for a minute there!!!  I made this card for my Dad's Birthday that is coming up soon! IMG_3673_edited-1
The base of my card is Chocolate Chip cardstock with first a mat of River Rock cardstock and then THIS beautiful decorative paper from Memory Box ~ called Grove.  The next vertical mat is first Chocolate Chip and then the same decorative paper.  The horizontal piece is first matted on River Rock cardstock and then another piece of decorative paper from the same paper pack.  I stamped the Inkadinkado ~ Three in a Tree stamp was stamped on Cryogen White cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink.  I colored using my Prismacolor Pencils and Mellow Moss & River Rock ink pads and blender pen.  The ribbon is from May Arts and was taped (Scotch) under the image and then taped to the back of the horizontal strip.  I then took a small piece of ribbon, punched a hole in the side of image and tied a knot on that side.  The Inkadinkado Happy Birthday sentiment (Lindsey is sold out of this one!) was stamped using Chocolate Chip ink directly on to the decorative paper.

I'll be back tomorrow with my card for Jacksonbelle's Design Team Tuesday challenge!  Thank you for stopping by!

Our Creative Corner Saturday Challenge ~ Basic Grey Anyone????

We've been teasing you a little bit this week about some exciting news for this week's challenge. We're so pleased to announce that Lindsey Botkin of Jacksonbelle Embellishments will be awarding a $15 gift certificate to one lucky winner from this week's challenge participants. Ordinarily, there's no time limit on our challenges, but this week, to be entered into the drawing, you must have your project linked up HERE in the comments section by 12 noon Eastern Time on Friday, July 4. We'll draw a random name from the entries and announce the winner on Saturday, July 5, along with our next challenge.  Sound fun?!?!?  Now, on to the challenge!

This weeks challenge is to use ANY OLD Basic Grey papers!  Now, OCC does not have any challenge police so if you DO want to use NEW Basic Grey paper, you won't get in trouble or be disqualified from winning the gift certificate!!!!  We're pretty easy to get along with huh???  Well, here is my card ~

IMG_3610_edited-1 The base of my card is 5 1/4" square and is Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The next mat is a blue from Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding.  The next polka dot mat is also from the same collection.  The photo corner punch is from SU! and the bottom brown piece is from Figgy as was the top decorative corner.  The strip across the middle is first the brown and then white papers from Figgy.  I stamped the BRAND NEW Inkadinkado Silhouette Deer Trail on the white strip and again on another piece of the same white using Chocolate Chip ink.  The reindeer has just been released and Lindsey will be getting it in her store early next week so if you are interested, send her an email to reserve yours!  I used my Oval Nestabilities to cut the oval for the deer and then cut a larger oval from the brown Figgy paper to mat it.  I then lined it up so the flourish trail would look continuous from the deer in the oval and then cut my white strip to fit on the front of the card.  I matted this with first the brown and then the blue which I punched one edge using my Martha Stewart border punch.  I colored some of the snowflake/flowers using my Cool Caribbean ink pad and a blender pen.  I added clear MAMBI rhinestones all over this card!!!  I mounted the deer on top of the strip using dimensionals.
The sentiment is from Fancy Flexible Phrases and was stamped on the white Figgy paper using Chocolate Chip ink.  I punched this using my small oval punch and then matted it on the brown Figgy paper and cut a mat with my scissors.  I then matted both of these on the decorative oval I punched using the large oval punch.  I added a small snowflake punched from the blue and added a clear rhinestones because I didn't have enough bling on this card!!! LOL!!!

Recipe ~  Stamps ~  Fancy Flexible Phrases and Inkadinkado ~ Silhouette Deer Trail  Paper ~  Chocolate Chip cardstock and Basic Grey Figgy Pudding DP  Ink ~  Chocolate Chip and Cool Caribbean  Other ~ MAMBI Clear rhinestones, Photo Corner Punch, dimensionals, Oval Nestabilities, large and small oval punches, small Marvy snowflake, blender pen, Martha Stewart border punch

Remember, when you upload to SCS be sure to add OCCC (Our Creative Corner Challenge) in the keyword section.  Be sure to check out the beautiful creations the "Girls" have made ~

SCS Ways to Use it and Sketch Challenge.........

Hi again!
Here is my card for todays Ways to Use it challenge at SCS.  The challenge was to use a bird stamp!  That's easy enough!  The layout is from yesterdays sketch challenge.  Here is my card ~
IMG_3585_edited-1 The base of my card is 5 1/4" square Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The next mat is Whisper White and then a pattern from SEI's new Dill Collection.  All of the decorative paper squares are also from the Dill paper collection.  I punched the patterned squares using my 1 1/4" square punch and then matted each one on Whisper White cardstock and then again on a brown from the Dill collection.  The focal image is from Inkadinkado and is called Three to a Tree.  I stamped the image on Whisper White cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink.  I then colored using my Prismacolor Pencils.  I then punched a hole using my horizontal slot punch and then added wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon.  I mounted this using dimensionals on top of the same brown that I matted all the squares on and then used dimensionals again and mounted both pieces on top of the Coral paper (also included in the Dill pack).

Just a quick announcement... This Saturday Our Creative Corner has a fun challenge planned PLUS some goodies to go along with it. Are you intrigued????  Be sure to stop by here or the OCC blog first thing Saturday morning!!!!

Thanks again for stopping by and I hope you all have a great day!

SCS Sketch Challenge Wednesday!!!

Hopefully I can get this card uploaded!  Our internet connection is having issues today!  My card today is based on today's sketch challenge at SCS.  Here is my card ~
IMG_3545_edited-1 This was a really simple card and the colors are quite different than what I usually use.  The base of my card is Basic Black and then a mat of purple Core'dinations Black Magic cardstock.  The purple is actually the back of the front black piece of cardstock which I ran through my Cuttlebug.  I can't remember which folder this is but it is old!  I sanded the floral embossed parts and when I did that, the purple came through!!!  VERY cool!!  I will show you a close up at the end of this post.  The focal image is from Inkadinkado and was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  I colored using my Prismacolor Pencils and highlighted all of the birds using my Copic Spica Clear glitter pen.  I mounted the image piece on first Basic Black and cut it flush to the bottom of the birds.  I then mounted those on the same purple cardstock which I had punched using my Martha Stewart punch/embosser.  I then matted the entire thing on Basic Black cardstock and had it end just under the punched dots so the Basic Black cardstock would show through.  I added light blue MAMBI rhinestones and then mounted the entire focal piece using dimensionals.

Here is a close up of the awesome cardstock ~

IMG_3546_edited-1 I only have a sanding block so when I sanded, I did it carefully so I wouldn't sand the base of the cardstock so I couldn't do a really good job sanding the black off of the embossed images.  It does look pretty in real life though!!!

I hope to upload my challenge card for Mothers and Daughters Creations tomorrow ~ as long as Verizon cooperates!  Be sure to stop by!!!

Jacksonbelle's Design Team ~ Chloe Marie Tuesday......

Good Morning!
It's Tuesday and that means another Jbelle Design Team Challenge!!!  This week we are doing a product spotlight for Lindsey's store!  The product to be profiled is Daisy D's new paper called Chloe Marie.  Here is my card ~
IMG_3526_edited-1 The base of my card is Poison Ivory Shimmery CS and then a mat of Basic Gray CS and then one of the Chloe Marie Decorative Paper patterns.  The color of the DP as well as the Shimmery cardstock is really more Vanilla than what the picture shows.  The strip down the side is first Poison Ivory then just a small strip on one side of Basic Gray which I cut using my scallop scissors and then another pattern from the Chloe Marie pack.  The lace is off white and is something I have had in my stash for a while.  I added a strip of Basic Gray Taffeta and then tied a knot using the lace.  The metal corners are from We R Memory Keepers Silver hardware kit.  I added pink MAMBI rhinestones to the centers of the flowers.  I mounted this strip using dimensionals.

The focal image is by Inkadinkado and is called Birds on a branch.  I love coloring these birds!  I stamped the image on Poison Ivory cardstock using Basic Gray ink.  I colored using my Prismacolor pencils, cut the image using my rectangle Nestabilities and then mounted it on a scalloped rectangle I cut from the same Chloe Marie paper that I used on the strip.  I matted this with some Basic Gray cardstock.  I mounted this using dimensionals on the side of the strip and Pop Dots on the other side so the image would be level as well as popped up!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the team has done for this challenge!

Recipe:  Stamps ~ Inkadinkado ~ Birds on a Branch;  Paper ~ Poison Ivory Shimmery CS, Basic Gray CS, Daisy D's ~ Chloe Marie; Ink ~ Basic Gray;  Supplies ~ Prismacolor pencils, dimensionals, pop dots, rectangle Nestabilities, vanilla lace, Basic Gray Taffeta, scallop scissors, We R Memory Keepers Silver Hardware, MAMBI pink rhinestones

A quick note ~ it was brought to my attention that the information that I gave you yesterday regarding the shimmery cardstock from Cutcardstock.com was not as good of a deal that I conveyed.  I checked into it and for me, the prices are still less than SU!  For 4 packages of shimmery cardstock, (89# cover weight), a total of 100 sheets, would cost me $39.34 to have it shipped to VA via USPS Priority.  When I bought my packages back in late Summer early Fall, I bought 1 package of each ~ Poison Ivory & Cryogen White (BTW, I am almost out of the Cryogen White!!!).  At that time they offered packages of 50 at 89# cover weight.  I don't see that they offer it at that same weight anymore.  They do offer packages of 50 but the cover weight is 80# cover weight.  The cost per package of 50 is $9.75.  I haven't used that weight before so I am not sure of the quality.  As far as shipping, if you are ordering a lot of the cardstock, it would probably be cheaper if you opted for the flat rate USPS shipping.  For me, these prices are much better than a package of 10 for $8 that SU! sells, even with my demonstrator discount.  I only am passing on what I feel is a good deal, you may find better prices elsewhere and that is great!!!  Be sure to let us all know if you find as good of quality and better prices ~ I would LOVE to know!!!

Hope you have a great day!!!

Second OCC Challenge Card.....

Since I haven't made anything to show you today, I thought I would share with you the first card I made for OCC ~ Our Creative Corner's sketch challenge on Saturday!  I made 2 and chose my second one to include for Saturday's challenge so here is my first one ~
IMG_3435_edited-1 The base of my card is Sahara Sand.  I put a small strip of Summer Sun at the bottom and then a mat of Bordering Blue.  The upper and lower decorative papers are 2 different patterns from the new Memory Box ~ Provence set.  The ribbon is from Micheal's.  The center thread was not yellow until I colored it with my Summer Sun marker!  The first mat (from the bottom up) is matted with Summer Sun cardstock and then I used another piece of the bottom floral decorative paper and lined it up so it looks like the flowers continue up on just that panel.   The next panel is first Sahara Sand and then another pattern from the Provence pack.  I then stamped the Inkadinkado bird from Birds Galore on a decorative blue piece of paper (from Provence as well) using Sahara Sand ink.  I cut it out out and mounted it (using dimensionals) on top of the first bird I stamped on Shimmery White cardstock using Sahara Sand ink.  I colored the leaves using a blender pen and Mellow Moss ink pad.  The clear jewels are from MAMBI and the pewter buckle is from We R Memory Keepers.  I punched the bottom of the Shimmery White piece using my Martha Stewart punch and used the same punch on a scrap of Summer Sun cardstock and then adhered them together and offset the 2 so you can see a very thin Summer Sun mat.

I think I covered everything!!!  If not, please don't hesitate to ask!  I need to work on my card for tomorrow's Jacksonbelle DT Challenge!!!

Before I go, I want to mention something that may of interest to some of you!!!  The Shimmery White cardstock I use is not SU!  Last Fall I found a place that was MUCH cheaper!!!  Here are the links for the 2 colors I use most often.  They do have lots of other colors, types and matching envelopes, in case you are interested!!!

Cryogen White and Poison Ivory.  The Cryogen White is the one I use most often.  It is the same color as the SU! Shimmery White.  It is not a bright white but not vanilla.  The Poison Ivory is VERY close to SU!'s Vanilla but of course is shimmery, not mat.  I use these all the time still.  I thought I would just use them around the holiday's but I have been using them a lot!!!  The company is called Cutcardstock.com

Have a great day and check back tomorrow for Lindsey's DT challenge Tuesday!

Jacksonbelle DT Challenge Tuesday!!!

Good Morning!
Today is a sketch challenge for Lindsey's design team!  I LOVE sketch challenges and if you do too, you can play along with us!  I will show you the sketch in a second but if you do decide to play, upload your creation on SCS using the keyword JBE0006 (those are zero's, not oooohhhhssss!! LOL!).  Here is my first card and is SO me!  The inside of the card includes the sentiment, better late than never.....
IMG_3408_edited-1 I HAD to buy this Inkadinkado stamp because it is SO appropriate for me!!!  These little sets are so cute and SO cheap (gotta love that!).  The base of my card is Wild Wasabi with a mat of THIS Crate Paper (the back of the floral piece on the front).  I then have a mat of Chocolate Chip cardstock and then the front of the Crate Paper DP.  I added the green Dew Drops by using Stardust Stickles which adds glitter!  I TOTALLY stole this idea from Rachel!  Great idea Rachel!!!  Since I don't have oval Nestabilities (yet ~ they are on order!), I had to use my Creative Memories oval cutter and my Marvy Giga Scallop Punch.  The first oval mat (on bottom) is the same mustard color which adhered directly on to the floral mat AFTER adding the dotted strip (also included in the Crate Paper Sweet Branch paper pack).  Then, on top of the mustard oval, I added a green strip (the back of the dotted paper) then May Arts Chocolate ruffled ribbon and then THIS May Arts Brown and White striped ribbon.  I used Scotch tape to tape the ends down on the back as well as under the ovals.  The focal image was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink and the sentiment was stamped using Wild Wasabi ink, punched out using my scallop punch and then matted on a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock which I cut an oval using my CM cutter.  These 2 pieces were adhered together and then mounted on the top of the first oval & ribbons using Pop Dots.  Of course before I mounted this, I colored the snail using my Prismacolor Pencils.  I added "slime" on the snail body, not shell, using my clear Copic Spica glitter pen!  Last but CERTAINLY not least, I added googlie eyes!!!

Here is my second card which actually follows the sketch almost perfectly!
IMG_3403_edited-1 The base of this card is Copper Metallic cardstock which I sponged with Dark Brown ink from my Colorbox Petal inks.  The rest of the papers I used are the fronts and backs of this awesome paper pack from Crate Paper called The Hampton.  I did sponge the bottom and oval brown pieces with the same Colorbox ink.  The sentiment is from Fancy Flexible Phrases and was stamped using Copper Metallic ink and then punched using my Word Window punch.  I also punched a circle (using my 1/4" punch) from the polka dot paper I used on the side.  I then added an aged copper brad from We R Memory Keepers.  I paper pierced around the oval as well as around the side piece.  The oval was cut using my Creative Memories oval cutter.  The Inka Birds
were stamped directly on the brown Crate Paper by first inking up the stamp with Copper Metallic ink and then Dark Brown Colorbox ink.  I then used the Colorbox Petal Point to sponge around the birds and it left a nice brown & copper edge.  This was PURELY an accident but actually worked in my favor!!!!  I mounted the birds using dimensionals.  Super simple huh???

Here is the sketch in case you want to play!!!
