Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge

May 14, 2008

Hoooo's Thinking of You?????

I REALLY like the layout of my card!  I wasn't sure at first but I am so happy with how it came together!!  The layout is from Lauren's Sketch Saturday.   No, no original thought today!
Img_2973_edited1

The base of my card is Whisper White but I completely covered it with a blue from some old Chatterbox decorative paper I had.  I used my scalloped scissors to cut the bottom and added a small piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock to the bottom.  All of the decorative papers are from Chatterbox and were matted with Chocolate Chip cardstock.  The focal image is the owl from this DARLING Playful Animals stamp set from Hero Arts.   I stamped the owl using Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock.  I then cut and embossed the circle using my Nestabilities.  I then cut a scalloped circle, also with my Nestabilities, to mat the owl on.  I added another circle under the scalloped circle of Chocolate Chip cardstock.  I colored Mr. Owl using my Prismacolor Pencils and then added glitter to the owls eyelashes and edges of the leaves using my Sakura Stardust Clear glitter pen.   I mounted this on the front of the card using dimensionals.  The flowers are from Prima and the blue rhinestones are Hero Arts Light Blue Gemstones.   Oh, the sentiment is also included in the Playful Animals set!  You can find all of the stamps and accessories (except the flowers & Nestabilities) at Stampers Dream.

I hope to have my tutorials ready tomorrow for you so be sure and check back!  I hope you have a great day!

Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge ~ 4/12/08

Hi again!
Here is a card I made based on Lauren's Saturday Sketch ~
Img_2519_edited1

The base of my card is Basic Black with a mat of a black decorative paper from Basic Grey's Phoebe line and then the floral pattern from the same Phoebe line.  The 3  flowers are plastic and are from American Crafts.  I added some MAMBI Bling to the centers of each of the 3 flowers as well as the flowers that Fluffles is holding.  The ribbon is black and celery grosgrain.  Fluffles was stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  I colored using my Prismacolor pencils and I used my Quickie Glue Pen to add Hazy Gray Flock to Fluffles entire body.  I got Fluffles HERE!  I used my scalloped square Nestabilities to mat the image.  I also included a thin Basic Black mat in between the scalloped square and image piece.

Sorry for the short post ~ I have to get outside and mow the lawn!!!  My yard boy is at work!! LOL!!!  Actually, mowing is my job and always has been.  It is so beautiful outside so at least I can enjoy the weather and get something done!!!

Hope you all have a great day and check back tomorrow since I am doing a challenge with the other design team members from Mothers and Daughters Creations!

Whoooo's Your Daddy????

That is actually not the sentiment on my card but it sure is funny and would fit perfectly!  The problem is, I don't know for what occasion you would send someone a card with the sentiment ~ Whoooo's your Daddy???  LOL!!!  Tamara came by yesterday and I showed her the card and asked her what kind of creative sentiment she thought I should use.  We were laughing at some and I said what about "Whooo's your Daddy" and she said she wouldn't know who you would send a card like that to but it would be cute if I put little heart stickers in the owls eyes (great idea) but we still couldn't figure out whoooooo that could be sent to!!! LOL!!!  Here's my card so you can see what we mean ~

See what I mean???  It looks like the Mommy is showing off her baby!  Anyway, I thought Congratulations could work to (new nest or new baby...).  I ended up not putting any sentiment because I might just need a birthday card one day!!! LOL!!!  The sketch is based on Lauren's Saturday Sketch and the eyelets are for today's SCS Ways to Use it challenge!

The base of my card is Whisper White and is 5 1/2 square.  The next layer is Chocolate Chip and the top is first a Pink Passion paper from the Basic Grey Sultry collection (Lindsey's photo on the website for Sultry actually shows sugared so if you want to see the papers in the Sultry collection, look at the 12x12 pack HERE to see the patterns) and the top floral decorative paper is also from the Sultry collection.  I bought the 6x6 packs.  The top of the card was done by adding white eyelets with my Crop-a-dile and then adding the ribbon (it is chocolate with white polka dots and for the life of me, I can't remember where I got it) as shown here ~

I know, it is quite professional looking isn't it????  Hopefully the front doesn't fall off the card and expose my SECRET!!! LOL!!!

The owls, tree, leaves and nest are all part of the new Basic Grey ~ Grow a Garden stamp set.  I stamped the branch as well as the owls and nest, using Chocolate Chip ink on Whisper White cardstock.  I used Old Olive ink for the leaves.  I stamped the nest and both owls on scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut them out.  I colored the owls to match the paper using my Prismacolor Pencils and Mineral Spirits and then added MAMBI ~ pink and green crystals on their eyes.  I adhered the owls and nest using dimensionals.  I used my oval Creative Memories template and made a line around the image using a pencil and then I hand cut the entire thing so I could have some of the leave outside the box.  I then used the actual cutter to make the Chocolate Chip mat.  I adhered this part using dimensionals.  The last step was to add some pink crystals to the centers of the flowers on the decorative paper.

Thanks again for stopping by!  I hope you have a great day!

Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge ~ 3/22/08

I'm back!
My husband was home today so we had lots to do around here but I did get to squeeze in a little stamping time!  Luckily this was a really easy card to do.  The sketch is based on Lauren's Saturday Sketch and the BEAUTIFUL flower idea is from Lauren too!  You have got to check out her tutorial, it is fantastic!  Aren't you excited to see my flower!!!  I am excited to show you so here goes ~
Img_2198_edited1

The base of my card is pink Bazzill cardstock and can you believe it, that's it!!!  No more layers!!!  The white  rubons  along the top and down the side are from the Urban West SU! collection.  The way I did my flower was punching 2 flowers (Whale punch) from Whisper White cardstock and then I used a pink Prismacolor pencil and colored around the center and out the petals using Mineral Spirits and a blending stump.  I wrapped the petal around a pencil to make the edges come up.  I used my Quickutz to make the leaves from Celery cardstock.  The center pink and green flowers were punched from the new SU! 3 flower punch.  I added beautiful celery colored crystals and a flower center which is also celery.  I got the single self adhesive crystals from Lindsey and they are from Me and My Big Ideas.  The crystal center was also from Lindsey and is by Prima.   The crystals really are celery in real life!  The sentiment is Stem Sayings from SU!.  I stamped this using Celery ink and in real life, this really does match!!!

Thanks again for stopping by and don't forget about Lindsey's design team opportunity from my previous post HERE!

Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge ~ 3/8/08

Oh my gosh, I can't believe it is Friday already and I can't get a card completed!!!  The following card is one I had done earlier in the week but hadn't posted so here it is!!!  The card is based on Lauren's Saturday Sketch HERE!
Img_2106_edited1

This was a fun and different layout!  The base of my card is Basic Black with a mat of Whisper White which I used my NEW Dot Cuttlebug embossing folder!!!!  I LOVE that one!!!  The blue patterned paper is from Memory Box.   I added Frosted Stickles to the stars on the decorative paper as well as Elzybells wings, wand and ruffle.  I used my circle Nestabilibites for the scalloped piece as well as the Whisper White embossed circle.  I stamped her using Basic Black ink and colored using my Prismacolor pencils (I LOVE those!).  I mounted it on the front using dimensionals.  The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White using Basic Black ink and then punched it out with my Word Window punch.  The crystal star was mounted using my Quickie Glue Pen.

I apologize for being such a lax stamper!  I hope to be back tomorrow as I am working on lots of stuff if i could just get it all finished!!!  Thanks so much for stopping by!

Thanks A UNCH!?!?!?

Hi Again!
Here I am posting twice in one day!!!  I haven't been in the mood to stamp lately.....  I know, I know, I should go to the Doctor but I think the HORRIBLE ~ MLTHD (Mojo Left The House Disease) is now going away!!!  There is NO cure and NO pills to take but if you just take a break from stamping (I know, I am upsetting you now but it IS the truth), the Disease will go into remission.  Now, it can return periodically but there IS hope!!!  You just have to work through it and KNOW that you ARE NOT alone....

Now you are probably wondering what the heck I mean by Thanks A Unch?!?!?!?  Here is my card and you will figure it out!
Img_2030_edited1

The layout of this card is for Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge HERE!   The base of my card is Old Olive and is 5 1/4" square.  The next mat is first Whisper White and then the UNBELIEVABLY beautiful Memory Box Paper from their Sprout  line.  I do want to pass on that in these packs of paper you receive 3 sheets of 10 different patterns of paper for ONLY $5!!!!  All of the packs have beautiful papers included.  The flower stamp set is also from Memory Box and can be found HERE!

The decorative corner was done using the technique I showed you last week ~ HERE.  I used Olive rubons from the new Love & Happiness set on a scrap of the decorative paper and then punched them out using my word window punch.  See where the unch came from?  I shouldn't have tied them like that but it was too late and the person who gets the card can move them apart to see what it is supposed to say!!!  I used White Scrappers floss to tie them on, added the same redish color crystals that I used on the flowers in the focal image and Olive Eyelets.

The strip toward the bottom is from another pack of Memory Box paper called Aerial which I mounted on Old Olive cardstock and then cut the bottom with my scalloped scissors.  The focal image was stamped on Shimmery White cardstock using Old Olive, Summer Sun and Pumpkin Pie ink.  The stem was stamped using the Olive and the flowers were stamped by first inking up the stamp with Summer Sun and then I rolled the edges in Pumpkin and then stamped.  The grass was stamped using Olive as well.  The redish crystals were glued on using my Quickie Glue pen.  The rectangle the image is on, I cut this out with my Nestablilities as was the scalloped mat.

Stamps ~ Vintage Garden ~ Memory Box            Ink ~ Old Olive, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie           Paper ~ Old Olive, Shimmery White        Other ~ Quickie Glue Pen, Nestabilities, Crystals, dimensionals, Scalloped scissors, word window punch, White Scrappers floss, Olive eyelets, Love & Happiness rubons, blender pen

Thanks again for stopping by and I will be back tomorrow!!!

Lauren's Saturday Sketch Challenge ~ 2/16/08

Hi Again!
I wanted to post my card for Lauren's Saturday Sketch from last Saturday before she posts her new Saturday sketch tomorrow!! LOL!!
Img_1891_edited1

The base of my card is Kraft.  You probably don't believe me because this picture does not show it very well!!!  Before I got on, I will tell you that I used my distressing tool on the edges of paper.  The next layer is Night of Navy and then a piece of red Bazzill cardstock.  The Kraft layer was stamped with my Versamark using the Boho Backgrounds stamp.  I am not sure who the striped paper is by ~ it was a scrap I had!  The image is my BEAUTIFUL Mustang by Serendipity Stamps.   I stamped on Whisper White cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink.  I colored using my Prismacolor pencils and Mineral Spirits.  I matted on first Kraft cardstock and then Night of Navy cardstock.  The ribbon is Kraft Taffeta and red gingham.  I used a silver buckle from the NEW Hodgepodge that will be available from SU! next month.  The decorative circle is from the Boho Backgrounds set, stamped using Night of Navy ink on Kraft cardstock.  I punched this out using my 1 1/4" circle punch and then matted it with a circle punched from my 1 3/8" circle punch.  The silver brad in the middle is also from the new Hodgepodge kit and has a star in it.  I added a red crystal.  I used glue dots to adhere this and used dimensionals to mount the mustang on the front.

Thanks again for stopping by!!!
