Look OUT!!! Here Comes GROOVY GRANNY!!!

This little granny just cracks me up!  I just love this set by Gina K.  It is so me!!!  Gina K had some new stamps released last night and some challenges that went along with the party so here is my first one based on sketch challenge #3 as well as last weeks Ways To Use It challenge ~ Polka Dots!  I have to bulk a few challenges together because I really want to do them all but that is just impossible!  Here is my card ~

I wanted Granny to have a cool lookin' car so I dug through my scraps and found this old We R Memory Keepers embossed flower paper.  I used my Nestabilities to die cut the top scalloped circles.  I used Basic Black cardstock for the bottom scallop.  The base of my card is Basic Black with a mat of another old piece of patterned paper by Lasting Impressions.  The stamp set is by Gina K and is called You know you're old when....  I got mine from Michelle ~ Stampers Dream but I do notice that she does not have it in stock right now.  See, it is very popular!!! LOL!!!  The white ribbon is May Arts and I got that from  Lindsey and the green and pink polka dot ribbon was from Michael's.  BTW, don't forget that Lindsey is having a sale which ends today!  She has tons of stuff marked down 25-35% off!  Now, on with my card!

I LOVE the focal image.  I had so much fun doing this part.  I stamped Granny on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  I stamped her again on the floral paper and again on the polka dot paper using Basic Black ink and then I used Black Stazon to stamp on an old embellishment package that was laying on my desk (this was for the windshield) and one more time on some old Architexture (EK Success) thin silver sheet metal.

The first thing I cut out was the car from the floral paper.  The next thing I cut out were just the seats from the polka dot paper.  I then cut the "windshield" out from the embellishment bag (think window sheet here).  I then cut out the bumper, wheels and antennae base.  Before I glued all these parts down, I colored Granny and inside the card (a light shade of blue) using my Prisma Color Pencils and Mineral Spirits.  I then used my Quickie Glue Pen to glue all the parts on.  I used the same pencils and Mineral Spirits to color the tires, road, grass and sky.  I added a few weeds using my Green Galore marker.   Here is a close up of Granny!

I love how the windshield turned out!  Super easy and free!  Don't throw those packages away.  You won't need window sheets!!!  I colored Granny's hair using a bluish purple as well as silver.  Remember that song by Ray Stevens ~ Little Blue Haired Lady?  That song is so funny and OLD, just like GRANNY!!!

I hope you are all having a great day and I will be back tomorrow!!

Thanks for stopping by!

This actually was a very simple card with the exception of the paper piecing on Grandpa's suit!!!  I used my Basic Grey, 2-Scoops paper for his jacket, tie, pants and party hat!  The plaid for the jacket just cracked me up.  You all KNOW there is someone in your family that dressed like this!!!  I stamped the image on Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  I colored the other areas of Grandpa using my watercolor crayons and a blender pen.  I tried my hand at shading by using my blender pen and a little Going Gray Watercolor crayon along the outside edges of Grandpa.  I also shaded the floor gray.  I added Diamond Stickles to the top of the party hat, the blower and the ribbon on the gift.  I also colored Grandpa's hair with gray and then added White Fun Flock using my Quickie Glue pen.  It looks so cute!!!  I matted the focal image with Regal Rose cardstock and then the polka dot 2-Scoops paper.  I used my paper piercer and mat and pierced around the entire piece and then added eyelets to all 4 corners.  I used my SU! scallop punch to punch from Celery cardstock and then used my 1 3/8" circle punch and punch from the decorative plaid paper and then I stamped the sentiment on the yellow Basic Grey 2-Scoops paper using Basic Black and punched it out using my 1 1/4" circle punch.  I also stamped the teeth from the stamp set using Regal Rose under the sentiment.

Here is a close up which will show you the flock and paper piecing!

This set has so many cute sayings and I look forward to using it more!!!  I got my 2-Scoops paper from Lindsey although she is currently out BUT, lucky for you she does have a really cool kit she put together that does include the 2-Scoops paper!!!  The paper is really pretty so don't let the thought of Grandpa's jacket deter you!!!  Her kit is HERE and is on sale through tonight (12pm Pacific time) for $16.50 (regularly $22) and she only has 4 left so if you want one, you might want to get on over there!!!

Thanks again for stopping by and I have more projects to show you tomorrow!  I have had a blast using my Fun Flock!!!  Have a great night!

Is it too early to wish you a Ha Pea Easter??

Happy Sunday!!!
I am so excited to tell you that I was chosen to be a guest designer for Michelle Rodgers ~ Stamper's Dream web store Stampers Dream Stamps!  Thanks Michelle!!!   Be sure to check out Michelle's store as she has the new MFT stamps in stock and she will be getting the BRAND NEW (as well as the older ones) Cuttlebug embossing folders which are scheduled to arrive next week and since they will definitely sell out fast, you might want to email her and reserve yours ~ I did!!!   She is selling them for $4.99 each.  OK, with that said, I now want to share my card with you!  I fell in love with this stamp when I saw it in Michelle's store so I just HAD to buy it!!!  I hope you like it too!!!  The stamp is by Penny Black ~

This card was difficult to get a picture of because the daisy frame around the center is a Making Memories Sheer frame but you can click on the picture to see it closer!  I haven't used my favorite Imaginisce ~ for Peeps sake paper for a few days and you must admit that it is PERFECT with this stamp!!!

OK, the base of my card is 5 1/4" square and is Celery cardstock.  I then have a layer of the back side of the blue daisy paper which is a checkered celery color which you can find HERE!   I then put a layer of Whisper White cardstock and then the top daisy layer.  Since the frame is clear, I had to cut out squares so the paper would not show through the frame.  I first cut the decorative daisy piece to be the exact size of the frame.  I then cut the white and celery checked paper big enough so there wouldn't be an edge showing through the frame.  These 2 pieces are sandwiched between the floral piece and the celery cardstock which is the front flap of the card.  The celery piece was cut to leave 1/4" lip all the way around the inside of the blue floral.   Before I glued the frame on, I used my sewing machine to add some decoration on the paper.  Not that I am the best sewer, but I really was not trying to make it straight!! LOL!!!  Usually I start out wanting a straight stitch and then once I have screwed it up completely, I decide that a straight stitch isn't what I really wanted anyway!!! LOL!!!

After sewing, I then used a thin layer of Elmer's glue along the entire 1/4" celery lip and then laid the frame on top of it to glue it down.  Since the Elmer's takes a little time to dry anyway, at that time I added Crystal Stickles in the centers of all of the flowers on the frame.  You can find the Stickles (and many other colors) in Michelle's store HERE!

The final step was to stamp the cutest Ha Pea Easter Stamp using Basic Black in on Whisper White cardstock.  I then colored him with my Celery, Pretty in Pink, Soft Sky, Saffron and Pumpkin ink pads and a blender pen.  I added Stickles to his feet.  I then did faux stitching under the sentiment using my Celery marker and then cut underneath it using my scallop scissors.  I mounted this on the checkered Celery decorative paper and then added a thin layer of Elmers to the back of the frame and glued my little guy on there.  You can find the stamp in Michelle's store HERE!

Here is a closer look at the frame ~
