My true love gave to me......whatever I ordered and wrapped for myself!!! LOL!!! If I give my husband links (he doesn't go in a store unless it is a sporting goods store) he will order what I ask for...seems kindof silly so I just order my own presents!!! This way, I KNOW I will LOVE what my true love gives to me!!!! LOL!!!!
I had a heck of a time getting a picture of my next project. I really is pretty in real life and of course, REALLY shiny!!! I promise I am not using my Martha deer and tree punches on EVERY project but this one just happens to be the next one I got finished with!!!
I had always wanted to do one of these glass blocks but was scared to drill it because the way my luck goes, it would break! I happened to be at Lowe's a few weeks ago and found the glass blocks for sale that were already drilled and include a cover!!! They are $10 each which is not real cheap but by the time I would buy a few that didn't have holes and then made holes and broke half of them, well.....you know where I'm going with this!!! LOL!!! Anyway, I bought the bow at Target (pre~made) and used this awesome glue called Crafter's Pick ~ Incredibly Tacky glue by Api's to adhere the bow to the block. I got the glue at Michael's. It is awesome and worked GREAT! The bow looks funky in this picture but in real life, it looks much better!!!
The way I did the snow hills was to use a piece of card stock I cut using my Creative Memories wavy cutter. I then traced the hills on to the glass using a Opaque fine point paint marker by Marvy. It is called DecoColor. I wanted to define the hills, otherwise the snow would have ran all together. To add the "snow", I painted the above glue on in small sections and added my most loved MS crystal coarse glitter. I added dots of glue and added the glitter to make it look like it was snowing. The deer and trees are the same punches I used on yesterday's project which are by Martha Stewart. I added gold Stickles to the tree limbs and adhered the trees and deer on the glass using the same heavy duty glue above! Here is a closer view of the snow, deer and trees ~
I added a piece of brown card stock to the back of the block just for the picture to try to get it to show up better.
My last step was to add lights inside. I found some battery operated LED lights at Walmart. There are 35 mini lights included. I didn't want the lights to show. I wanted them laying behind the snow so I used twisty ties and tied them so the lights were spread out evenly and then put them in the block so they are laying kindof flat. Of course you can see them behind the snow in daylight but my main issue was that I didn't want them to stick up above the snow hills. Here is a picture of it lit~
See, it is really hard to get a really great picture but it is really pretty. I initially was going to use one of those flickering tea lights that are also battery operated. I adhered it to the inside of the plug at the bottom of the block using a pop up glue dot. It was really pretty too but I like lots of lights, glitter, bling, so the string of lights worked better for me.
Again, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask! I hope you like it!

Great project!
My hubby hates shopping as well unless it's the grocery store or sporting goods store. He used to buy my gifts but when I returned 1 too many, he decided it was easier to just give me a mall gift card. Now I shop til I drop after Christmas and have been able to get a lot more bang for his buck cuz of all the post season sales. Sometimes he will buy me something small just so I have something to open on Christmas morning. When my daughter was a teenager, he would give her money and she would buy my gifts from him.

This is so gorgeous. I e-mailed it to a friend who does glasswork for him to take a look. I just saw the little MS punches today for the first time and really thought they were cute. (Here's where the voices say no, Nancy, stay home, behave!)

Beautiful! My Lowe's never seems to have the pre-drilled blocks and there is NO WAY I'm drilling one myself, so I will keep waiting... LOL! Not like I don't have enough IKEA lamps to stamp on.....

Oh my goodness, Lynda! This is the prettiest decorated glass block I've ever seen! The way you did those snowy hills is genius! Besides an an inspiration you are also always an enabler for me, because you've reminded me that I haven't cruised Michael's in LONG time. Those punches are adorable. Uh oh. Linda

OMG! This is absolutely gorgeous!!! I was searching for "paint chip" at SCS, as I got some yesterday, and came across this. WOW! I love it...not sure if I'm courageous enough to try it, but definitely got me thinking about making some for next year! tfs
