Does this color make me look HIPPY????

I love this set!  I bought Just So Hippy from Stampers Dream a few weeks ago and have had such a fun time using it!!!  The saying I used on this card cracks me up because back when I had a REAL, PAYING job in which required me to wear nice clothes (my uniform now are jeans, sweatershirts and t-shirts!) so I would ask my husband, does my butt look big in these pants and his "LOVING" reply was ~ No, your butt makes the pants look big!  LOL!!!  I know, I got the last of the REAL Gentlemen!!!  LOL!!!

I did have to print the most part of the sentiment out but I did use hippy from the stamp set!

I started out with a card base of Pumpkin Pie cardstock and then added very thin mats of first Basic Black and then Whisper White.  The next layer is from Crate Paper's Carnival Collection which I bought from Lindsey.

The Pumpkin flowers are from SU!'s Flower Fusion, the blue shimmer flower is from Imaginisce and I topped it off with a square blue crystal brad from SU!  I mounted this on the card using glue dots.  The next layer of paper is first Basic Black and then the coordinating blue which came with the Carnival Collection pack.  I then stamped my cutest hippo on Whisper White cardstock and again on the decorative paper using Basic Black ink.  I cut the hippo out from the decorative paper and adhered the head directly on top of the Whisper White cardstock and the "Tush" was mounted using dimensionals.  I stamped the hippo one more time on Whisper White and cut the toe nails and tooth out and then adhered them on top of the toes and tooth.  I stamped hippy from the hippy birthday stamp by just using my Basic Black marker on just the word hippy, I then stamped it and added my own question marks.  The black circles around the border are rubons from the Urban West collection.   I added a google eye, printed my sentiment from a font on my computer on Pumpkin Pie, cut them out and mounted them on the card.

Follow Your Heart......

This card started out to be for Sharon's Stamp Simply Challenge #20 which is to use Pretties!!!  What a great challenge!  I knew that I REALLY wanted to use my beautiful black velvet ribbon that I have not used yet.  Well....., do you see ANY velvet ribbon on this card?????

NO, of course you don't!! LOL!!!  This easy card took me FOREVAH!!!  I so wanted to use my ribbon but finally gave up and did it without my beautiful ribbon!!!  I will try to use the ribbon another time.....  Anyway, the base of my card is Basic Black with a mat of a light pink Bazzill piece of cardstock.  I added black dots with my Basic Black marker around the entire card on the pink cardstock.  The white cardstock on the top is texture Whisper White.   The first step was to stamp the heart from the new SU! Always set using Basic Black ink.  I stamped the first heart on the left and I also stamped the heart again on scrap paper and cut out just the heart to use as a mask.  I used a small amount of adhesive and stuck the heart mask down on top of my first heart and then stamped the heart in the center, moved the masked heart to the center and then stamped the last heart on the right. 

The decorative hearts were all stamped using my Versamark and heat embossed using White Detail embossing powder.  I used 3 different decorative paper scraps for the hearts, cut them out and mounted them on the front of the card using dimensionals.  I added Heidi Swapp clear crystals on each heart as well as a couple on my Follow your Heart rubon (SU!) sentiment.  I adhered the bling using my Quickie glue pen.   See, it really was not a difficult card except I made it difficult which happens quite often!!! LOL!!!

A Little Birdie Told Me.....

A little birdie told me that I should use these colors because they would love AWESOME together!!!  I used my new SU! Stamp set ~ A little birdie told me and the flower from A Beautiful Thing.

The base of my card is Chocolate Chip and the decorative papers are from Basic Grey's Figgy Pudding line.  The polka dot strip has 2 Figgy patterns and the scalloped edge along the bottom is Cool Caribbean.  The flower was stamped using Cool Caribbean ink on Whisper White cardstock.  I cut the flower out leaving a white edge and then mounted it on Chocolate Chip cardstock and cut it out again.  I mounted it using a dimensional.  The sentiment is from the Little Birdie set and was stamped using Chocolate Chip ink.  The little birdie was stamped on Whisper White using Chocolate Chip ink.  I then colored the floor with Cool Caribbean ink and a blender pen.  I used the same technique to color the little birdie but the ink was close to Cocoa.  The party hat was stamped on Whisper White, cut out and then colored with Chocolate Chip and Cool Caribbean ink pads and a blender pen.  I also added Stardust Stickles to the polka dots and mounted it on the birds head using a dimensional.

I then matted the bird on the striped Figgy paper and then again on Cool Caribbean that I punched out using my Marvy Square scallop punch.  I added Dew Drops, which can be found HERE, in 3 corners using Elmer's glue to adhere them.  The "it's your birthday" sentiment was first stamped on Cool Caribbean cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink and then I cut them out.  I then mounted them on the striped Figgy paper and added Dew Drops.  ANOTHER easy card wouldn't you say?!?!?

Cosmo Cricket ~ With Sympathy....

I had made this card some time ago and never posted so I shall post it now!!!  This card was SUPER simple!! 

The base of my card is Chocolate Chip and then a mat of the distressed Caramel color which is the back of the larger floral piece on top of it.  The paper is by Cosmo Cricket and is from their Gretel line and is called Autumn.  I then matted the focal image on Chocolate Chip cardstock and stamped the flowers and sentiment on the distressed Caramel color using Chocolate Chip ink.  The bouquet and sentiment is from the Close as a Memory Stampin' Up! stamp set.  The flowers are miscellaneous Prima flowers and the brad and buckle are from my aged copper Hodgepodge kit.  The ribbon is May Arts and can be found in Lindsey's store HERE.   I mounted the focal image on the front of the card using dimensionals.  There you go!  Easy, Peasy!!!

Here is my photography tip!  By no means am I an authority on this subject but I wanted to just pass on to you what I recently discovered that has worked well for me!  I bought a white foam project board at Staples.  I have struggled with getting good pictures of my stuff so I thought I would try it.  Well, I really like the outcome!  I am using just my Ott Floor Lamp so it doesn't matter what the weather is outside or if it is nighttime.  I do have a Ott desk lamp and will probably try that as well to see if that might be even better but so far, I really like the results.  here is how I have it set up ~

I just bend the light down to where I want it although, I bet a table lamp would be better but I REALLY like how my recent pictures have turned out.  The colors look so much more real!  I still have to work with it but I do feel that foam board is fantastic and has made a huge difference!

This card I just uploaded the other day but this picture is one I took with my new "high tech" photo area and here is the one I took before I "saw the light"!! LOL!!!

I knew the colors were washed out but it was the best picture I could get at the time!  Wow, when you look at the new picture, the old picture was  really bad!  Anyway, I hope this information helps someone!

RUN ~ Don't Walk ~ To Your Local Target!!!!!

Oh my goodness, have you checked out the dollar spot area at Target lately????  I don't usually find embellishments in the dollar spot but let me tell you, they have some GREAT ones right now!!!  They also have the tin mail boxes which I stocked up on again!  I love those things.  They are so great for gifts.  You can see one I made for a baby gift HERE.   They are different now.  The front lid comes completely off instead of folding down so I think this will make decorating it that much easier!!!  Anyway, here is my card I made with the awesome metal flowers I got in the dollar spot.  They are 4 for a $1!!! 

The base of my card is Whisper White cardstock and then I used a thin Basic Black mat and the orange decorative paper is from the new Bali Breeze paper pack.  I then started from the bottom up, with a Celery mat, Whisper White, Celery polka dot from the designer series pack, Basic Black and then the focal image is on Whisper White.  I used my new Eastern Elegance rubons for the border and the sentiment.  No, it is not your eyes, the top rubon border is crooked!!!  I swear, I screw things up all the time but in this case, I couldn't cover it up!!! LOL!!!  The photo corner is first polka dot celery and then the decorative orange.  I did the flower stems with my paper piercer and mat pack.  The flowers don't have crystals in the centers so I added my own as well as a crystal on the photo corner.  SUPER easy!!!  See, I CAN do easy cards!!!

If you live near me, don't bother going to Massaponax to look for these charms because they only had 2 and I bought them both!!!  I found one earlier in the week and today when I was digging through everything to make sure I didn't miss anything, I found these!!!!  I was really excited.  Here are some other things I bought ~                                                                                                                                                                                       

There weren't any more of the 15 small flower brads either.....BUT, I got mine!!!!  The heart has rhinestones on it and the kit to the left has what looks like felt butterflies & crystal flowers as well as some ribbon.  The kit on the right has flowers in it that look JUST like Prima's!  There were lots of these kits let and a few of the bling hearts but boy, are these nice quality for the price so be sure to check it out!!!

Thank You ~ From Our House to Yours!!!

So you thought you had seen the last of my WHITE ~ MARTHA STEWART GLITTER!!!  Well, just 1 more card ~ for now!!!!   I wish I could take credit for the Christmas lights on the little trailer but I was totally inspired by a card Jan did a while back.  If I remember correctly, she added a little wreath on the door but I didn't have one small enough so I went ahead and just did the lights and added some lights on one of the trees! 

On the inside of my card I printed the sentiment, "from our house to yours".  The card is 4 1/4" square and I used Cryogen White Shimmer cardstock with a mat of Basic Grey Figgy Pudding decorative paper.  The way I stamped the images was to first stamp the trees using Always Artichoke ink (stamped 2 of them twice to get the faded look).  I then stamped the trailer using Basic Black ink right on top of the trees.  I stamped the trailer again on an extra piece of Cryogen White cardstock using Metallic Silver ink and then cut it out.  When I cut out the trailer I cut the wheels and steps off and then when I taped the trailer down, the wheels and steps were already there from my first Basic Black image.  I added the Martha Stewart white glitter on the ground and on all of the trees using Elmer's glue.  I used my watercolor crayons and a blender pen to color in the windows on the trailer and the trunks of the trees.

The way I did the strand of lights was to use a piece of silver cord, tied knots evenly spaced apart and then added Elmer's glue to the backs of all knots and glued it down on the trailer.  I then added misc. Stickles in dots to look like lights.  I used a clear Dew Drop over the circle window on the door and added red Stickles for the trailers tail lights.  I then mounted the focal piece on Always Artichoke cardstock and then on my card.  I used the same Stickles on the tree.  The thank you is a rubon from Basic Grey and can be found HERE.

Looky Here ~ I Got a RAK from Allison!!!

Hi Everybody!!!!
I have LOTS to show you and will start off with a RAK and some handmade Christmas cards I received a week or so ago!!!  I LOVE getting things in the mail that are NOT bills!!! LOL!!!  Before Christmas, I received this card from Allison ~ Stampin' When I Can.   

I have NO idea when Allison does have time to stamp.  She is a super nice person and is a tireless blogger.  I don't know how she has the time to find and post bloggers who have giveaways, new bloggers, tutorials, etc.....  She provides this information EVERY DAY!!!!  She is just fantastic and lucky me to have received a card from her ~ THANK YOU Allison, I really appreciate it!  If you haven't been to her blog, be sure to visit, you will NOT be sorry!

The next card was from the AMAZING ~ Linda Bullard.   

It is hard to see in this picture but the pinecone focal image are like mosaic tiles.  It is just beautiful as are ALL of Linda's creations!  Thank you SO MUCH Linda!

Merry Christmas to you ALL!!!

Merry Christmas!!!!  Well, if you are reading this before midnight, maybe it is still Christmas Eve but it is soon enough to say MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!

I am hoping to do some stamping tomorrow with some of my new stuff I ordered myself for Christmas!!!  This way I made sure I got what I wanted!!! LOL!! 

I intend to do the short scoring tutorial after Christmas since we are all so busy right now!  I do have a card to share with you that I did last week.  The card is from Lasting Impressions and already had a scored square in the center.

The cardstock is just white which I stamped the snowflake from Short & Sweet using Pretty in Pink ink.  I stamped the Elzybell image and sentiment using Basic Black ink.  I colored the image using my watercolor crayons and blender pen.  I used white Liquid Pearls for Elzy's coat and hat trim.  The snow is my usual, Martha Stewart white glitter and Elmer's glue.  I made the dots around the scored frame with my Basic Black marker and then topped it off with pink gingham and black polka dot ribbon.

Sweet Miss Daisy CASE and I was ELFED!

Are you all ready for the Holiday's yet?  I am in really good shape, just need to send some gifts tomorrow and then wrap my kids' gifts and I am done!  I did a lot of gift card and money holders this year and boy did it make my life easier!  I also gave away a lot of my cards in sets as gifts.  I have a hard time with some family members because they don't really NEED anything but everyone sends cards so that worked well!  My kids and I did some baking last weekend and you know what happened?  I didn't have enough eggs and had to BUY eggs.  Now, you are probably thinking, that happens to me all the time, what is the big deal but it is a bit embarrassing because we have chickens.  I should NOT run out of eggs!  I don't think ahead and when I gave a dozen to a friend last week, well, there were only 2 eggs left for baking.  I had to have my kids go out to the coup and get the one that had been laid Saturday morning but the chickens are not keeping up with my baking schedule, so off to the store I went yesterday!!! 

I saw a card of Anna Wight's ~ AKA:  Sweet Miss Daisy, that was so beautiful that I had to CASE it!!!  The card of hers is HERE.   I cannot pinpoint exactly why I loved this card, it just looked so perfect to me!  Anna really sewed her card and boy did she sew straight!!!  I can't  sew that straight so I thought I would have better luck doing faux stitching!!!

I REALLY like this layout and will definitely do it again!  The base of my card is Close to Cocoa with a mat of Chocolate Chip then Old Olive.  Mounted on top of the Old Olive piece is a smaller piece of first Chocolate Chip and then the decorative paper ~ Basic Grey's Urban Couture (Gabardine).  The ribbon is White taffeta and May Arts yellow polka dot organdy ribbon.  The stamps used on the focal image are from Starving Artistamps.  The Black Eyed Susan is HERE  and the grass is HERE.   What I did to have different colors on the flower.  First I inked up the flowers with my Summer Sun ink pad.  I then used my Chocolate Chip marker and colored the tops of the flowers using the brush end.  I then took my Basic Black marker and added a little black on top of the Chocolate Chip.  The last step was to use the brush end of the Old Olive marker and color the stems.  Before stamping on the Whisper White cardstock, I huffed on the stamp to moisten it and then stamped.  The grass was first stamped using Old Olive ink and then Close to Cocoa ink.  I stamped each color a number of times to have the colors be darker and lighter.  I matted this image with first Chocolate Chip then Summer Sun cardstock.  The last mat is first Close to Cocoa and then Chocolate Chip. 

I then did the faux stitching around the full images on the top 2 pieces and then just the upper half of the bottom mat.  I used my Close to Cocoa marker to do the "stitching".  I used dimensionals to mount the entire top on to the card.

I was ELFED over the weekend.  I received a WONDERFUL package from Jennifer at  Jennifer's Sweet Designs.   This is what she sent!

How lucky am I???  The little mitten includes Snowman Soup and the cardmaking kit is SO cute and last, but CERTAINLY not least are 8 (2 of each image) Elzybells stamped on Whisper White cardstock!  I am so excited to use these.  Jen sent me some darling paper a few weeks ago and I think any of these images will be perfect with it.  I better get busy!  Thanks again Jennifer!

Let's Wrap it Up!!!

Sorry for the delay in posting but it has been one of those really busy weeks and I HAVE been working on some new things to show you!   On Wednesday I went to the Museum of Natural History in DC with my daughter's 2nd grade class field trip.  Boy did we have fun!  Mary's Daddy came too ~ here is a picture of him:

I asked him to shower before we went but you know how men can be.....  I decided to not pick on him since he said he would buy me this ~

for Christmas!!!!  Since we have saved so much money on my DH clothes, razors and ALL hygiene products, he can afford to buy me the Hope Diamond!  Too bad though because it isn't for sale....  darn....  Actually, it really wouldn't look good with my jeans and t-shirts!!!!  You DO KNOW I am TOTALLY joking.  My husband does shower and is WAAAAAYYYYY too cheap to buy me ANY kind of jewelry let alone The Hope Diamond!!! LOL!!! 

OK, enough of that!!!  I have a couple of boxes to show you.  The template is from Lauren ~ My Time's, Saturday Sketch.  It is really a cute box and VERY simple once you get going!!!  My first box is using my BEAUTIFUL, Foil Falling Leaves from Paper Salon which I got from my good friend Tamara from her on line store, Mothers & Daughters Creations.   She is just starting her store so stop on by and check it out.  This paper is so pretty!  Some of the leaves are metallic copper although you cannot see it really well in the photo but it is beautiful paper.

I didn't have any REAL Fall sets that would go with this so I used the flower from Fabulous Flowers and stamped it on some old Chatterbox paper that was a butter color using my Copper metallic ink.  I tried embossing it with copper EP but it didn't go with the metallic leaf so I went ahead and left it as is.  I stamped the flower 3 times and cut it out to layer it using dimensionals.  I used a polished copper brad in the center and because the metallic ink doesn't have ENOUGH shine, I added a dot of Copper Stickles on the end of each petal.

The strip of paper below the flower is the back side of the leaves as is the paper I used to punch (word window punch) the Happy Thanksgiving.  I stamped the sentiment using the copper metallic ink as well.  I tied the sentiment on using Linen thread and Copper Cord.  The Sentiment is from one of the All Year Cheer sets.  I also used the word window punch to punch the handle and then tied copper cord and Natural Hemp in a bow. 

The next box is for a friend of mine who's birthday is coming up soon!  I used Cutie Pie paper and my Snoopy stamp.

The ribbon is the wide celery grosgrain, yellow floral from Ribbon Originals and blue gingham.  I colored the Snoopy image with Celery, Rose Red, Bashful Blue and Saffron markers, used a acrylic dot for the circle balloon and added Stardust Stickles on the hats.  The top holder is just the scallop punched circle from celery cardstock and clipped with a silver library clip.  That's it!

I have another box to show you but you will have to wait until later......  I can't post everything at once, then I will run out of things and you will think I am a horrible blogger because I never post and then............
