Today's challenge is an Inspiration Challenge and is again hosted by Jennifer Meyer. She chose an absolutely beautiful dining room to be inspired by. Here it is ~
Isn't it beautiful??? I had so many ideas for this inspiration piece but ended up having the hardest time creating a card!!! I started 3 cards and never finished them, didn't like how they were turning out and then finally by the time I got to the fourth attempt, I knew I HAD to like it because the day was almost over and I needed to get it posted!!!
Last Monday's Technique Challenge was to make a suspension card. I had never made one of these and thought it would be fun! It really was fun and easy. The base of my card is Groovy Guava with a mat of Groovy Guava Designer Series paper. The top piece is Whisper White. I used my circle Nestabilities to cut the circles and then used my scalloped Nestabilities to cut the scalloped flower edge from the same Groovy Guava Designer Series paper. I used my Fiskars Threading Water scallop punch for the bottom scallops and added Making Memories aged copper brads to the centers of each scallop. The "grass" is Old Olive cardstock and was just cut using my scissors. The ribbon is Groovy Guava double stitched and then a knot of White Polka dot May Arts ribbon.
The stamp sets I used are my NEW Verve stamps!! I was so excited to use them!!! The flower, stem and butterfly are from the Petals and Stems set and the sentiment is from the Fluttering By set. I stamped the stem using Old Olive ink, the sentiment was stamped using Copper Metallic ink and the flowers which are being suspended were stamped using Groovy Guava ink on Whisper White cardstock. I cut the flowers our and mounted the smaller one on top of the larger one using dimensionals. The decorative copper brads are also from Making Memories. The butterfly was stamped on vellum using White Stazon ink and then cut out. I stamped the butterfly again on the polka dot Groovy Guava Designer Series paper using the White Stazon again and then cut it out and glued the 2 layers together. I then adhered them on to the card. I added Old Olive cardstock on the inside because you can see it through the suspension circles and it looks really nice because it coordinates with the grass.
Be sure to check out what the girls have made, you won't be sorry!

Today we are having my daughters Birthday party here at home. She had decided that she wanted a football theme (I know, I know...) so, being Mother of The Year and all, I bought a football cake pan!!! Well, luckily I bought 3 boxes of mix as well (I know how I am!!). I only have 1 box left!!! LOL!!! I swear, yesterday was just one of those days! I was trying to get the house, yard and pool ready for her party as well as make my card for today that was just not coming together very well and then I burned the first football cake. The chickens LOVED it. I was actually making it FOR the chickens since it isn't very nice to not include them in the party festivities!!! LOL!!! The chickens LOVE my cooking!!!! The second cake is better and hopefully when I frost it, it will still look ok!!!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
